A. F. Anejo Reserva Xtra Viejo -- Limited Release
Arturo Fuente Anejo is one of the world’s rarest cigars. It features a dark maduro wrapper that is aged in cognac barrels.
The Fuente name is no stranger to cigar enthusiasts both at the novice and aficionado levels. For generations, they have been producing the best tobacco and the best cigars in the Dominican Republic. After the hugely successful launch of their coveted Opus X cigar, a new idea was born. This idea was for a cigar that uses the very best Dominican filler and binder, but adds a 5-year-old Connecticut maduro wrapper aged in a cognac barrel. The cigar became known as Fuente Anejo (extra Viejo).
Fuente Anejo is a full-bodied Dominican cigar with unique aging process that leaves a very distinct finish on the palate. Typically, only available around Father's Day and Christmas, this cigar is one of the hardest to find and exclusive cigars in the world
Hemingway & Short Story Maduro - Extremely Limited Release
The Short Story has a very dark brown blemish-free maduro wrapper with a light tooth. The wrapper leaf is beautiful and absolutely free of any noticeable veins. A graceful taper toward the head along with the pressed nipple foot give this diminutive cigar an elegant figuration. Yielding only very slightly to a gentle squeeze, it is evident that this Hemingway is rolled tightly and evenly. The prelight aroma is a dusty chocolate.
The flawless draw on this perfecto facilitated a well-defined harmony of flavors. This cigar is characterized by its dominant slightly sweet and creamy flavors. Other flavors include hints of earthy chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla, and nuts. The Hemingway is smooth, well balanced, and refined; however, it is conspicuously lacking some complexity.
With a smoking time of just under an hour, the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story Maduro provided a refreshing set of distinct flavors well worth the modest cost. Get them while you can as a limited number are being released.
The larger counterpart to the Short Story is the Hemingway Signature Maduro. Sharing the same tobaccos and many of the tasting notes this vitola is sure to satisfy the smoker looking for a slightly longer A. Fuente Maduro experience.

New Cigars in the Humidor - Cohiba, Montecristo and Rocky Patel
Cohiba Edicion Diamante
The Return of the 30 Year Old Wrapper
The 1980 crop of Cameroon wrapper tobacco remains one of the most exemplary leaves ever cultivated. In the thirty years since this outstanding tobacco was harvested, General Cigar's tobacco masters have cloistered these rarefied leaves, nurturing them for the perfect occasion. The time is now (again). Introducing Cohiba Edicion Diamante, one of the most limited releases ever made available by General Cigar.
To celebrate the well-balanced, refined taste of the 32-year old Capa Reserva wrapper, Benji Menendez and General Cigar's team of cigar masters worked tirelessly to create the optimal blend for Cohiba Edicion Diamante. A proprietary Dominican Piloto Cubano blend bolsters the subtly complex taste of the elegant wrapper which enrobes an Indonesian Jember binder. To taste this cigar is to experience the art of cigar making at its finest: a fragrant aroma opens to a delightfully balanced smoke with nuances of cinnamon and toasted wood.
Montecristo EPIC
The boldest Montecristo yet.
A bolder, artistically packaged Montecristo from the Dominican Republic is now in cigar shops. Montecristo Epic, a cigar made with tobacco dating back to 2007, showed up at premium tobacconists this week.
The brand extension comes in three sizes, with a third, limited-edition size following later in the year (The famous Montecristo No.2). Described as the fullest-bodied Montecristo in the entire Altadis U.S.A. Inc. portfolio, Montecristo Epic is made with a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican filler tobaccos (some of it grown in 2007) a Nicaraguan binder and Ecuadoran Habano wrapper, one of the most popular wrapper varieties being used today.
Rocky Patel BURN
The best NEW Rocky Patel Cigar in years.
The newest edition to the Rocky Patel portfolio is cigar complex enough to satisfy the palate of any cigar smoker from novice to enthusiast. The BURN starts off with notes of cedar and leathery undertones transitioning to a smooth sweet and floral center. The cigar is named after Rocky's cigar lounge in Naples, FL and until recently was exclusive to BURN. In our shop those who've tried the BURN have told us that its name should come from smoking the cigar all the way down to the nub until you burn your fingers. It's that good. It's the best Rocky Patel cigar since the Vintage Cameroon 2003.

The IPCPR, LA Times, FDA, & your cigars.
The LA Times, and several other Gannett newspapers across the nation,
recently published an editorial in favor of FDA's attempt to regulate
the premium cigar industry.
IPCPR CEO Bill Spann has responded to each of those newspapers with the following:
"The FDA's power over cigars" editorial advocates job killing regulation
More than 2000 professional tobacconists of our association who sell premium cigars strongly disagree with your editorial. The bills before Congress would exempt only traditional premium cigars, which are not marketed to, desired by, or affordable to underage youth. The small, flavored cigars that are popular with underage youth would still be under FDA regulation. The new bills would prevent the FDA from regulating only one type of cigars: premium. Premium cigar smokers are adults who only smoke 1-2 cigars per week. Their enjoyment is celebratory, not an addiction. The average price for a premium cigar is $8, and all cigars are not the same. Recent tax laws have enabled some cigarettes to now be classified as cigars and those would still be under FDA regulation. Premium cigars are different - and more than 200 members of Congress agree. These bills preserve 85,000 American jobs and address underage smoking.
We encourage our members to keep an eye out for this editorial or similar editorials and articles in your area so that we can respond to it immediately.

The FDA's power over cigars
Editorial
Two bills in Congress would remove its authority to regulate cigars. That would be a mistake.
The 2009 federal law that required the U.S. Food and Drug
Administrationto begin regulating cigarettes also gave it the option of
regulating cigars. Now two bills, one in each chamber of Congress, would
remove the agency's authority over "traditional" cigars — the regular size that you're used to, not the ones the size of cigarettes.
It's true that cigarettes are the far bigger health scourge in the United States, accounting for nearly one in five deaths each year, according to theU.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Traditionally, cigars have not been popular among young people, which is significant because preventing smoking among youth is one of the key reasons for regulating tobacco.
But there's nothing good to be said about the health effects of cigar smoking. Even though cigar lovers don't typically inhale the smoke, their lung cancer rates are higher than those of nonsmoking Americans — though lower than those of cigarette smokers. According to the National Cancer Institute, cigars have higher levels of tar, toxins and carcinogens than cigarettes and cause cancers of the mouth, lips, throat and esophagus. They also produce more secondhand smoke.
The rate of cigar smoking have been increasing for the last two decades, and cigars can now be found in fruit and candy flavors, including chocolate — the same kind of flavor tweaking that got many teenagers hooked on cigarettes. That was why the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act — the legislation that gave the FDA regulatory authority over tobacco products — banned flavoring in cigarettes. The new bills would prevent the FDA from doing the same for many types of cigars.
Last year, the state of Maryland found that while cigarette smoking was less popular among teenagers, cigar smoking had increased, a trend that state officials blamed on flavored cigars. Similar findings have been reported in other states over the last several years. True, those numbers include the very small cigars that would continue to be regulated by the FDA if the legislation passed, but they also include the larger ones. Many high school and college students mistakenly believe that cigars are not very dangerous.
It would be a shame to see the hard-fought battle against cigarettes undermined by increased cigar use. Whether in cigarettes, cigars or pipes, tobacco is a harmful product that kills and sickens many of the individuals who smoke it, and costs taxpayers enormous sums in treatment for smoking-related diseases. That's why the FDA was given the power to regulate it, power that should not be weakened now.
